Kanzaki-Takahashi Laboratory

Born in Koyaguchi, sitting at the foot of Mt. Koya, in 1957. Graduate of Chiben Gakuin. Since his study of insects for his thesis in the College of Biological Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Kanzaki has been the frontrunner in the field of research on understanding, creating, and utilizing brain mechanism using insect brains as a model. His research on the brain has progressed from understanding of the brain with biological analyses conducted in Master's Program in Biological Sciences in University of Tsukuba, doctoral research fellowship in The University of Arizona, and Institute of Biological Sciences, University of Tsukuba; to research on the brain by reproducing brain dynamics with the power of convergence of biology and engineering in Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo: his team develops cutting-edge approaches including creating the brain in next-generation super computers, and Cyborg Insects - insects with the brain implemented with apparatus. He has worked in Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo since 2006, introducing to teenagers and scholars insects' point of view on the human society, besides conducting educational activities.
