Born in Okayama in 1951. Joined Nomura Securities Co., Ltd. in 1976 and became a board member in 2000. After serving as President of Nomura Research & Advisory Co., Ltd, and Nomura Human Capital Solutions Co., Ltd., Fukuhara joined Benesse Corporation in 2004. During his service as President of Benesse Style Care Co., Ltd., Benesse Style Care Co., Ltd established the status of the largest assisted-living and pay nursing condominium in Japan. Fukuhara’s current post is Representative Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Benesse Holdings, Inc.. Recently focusing on local community rejuvenation, Benesse Holdings, Inc. develops Benesse Art Site Naoshima (BASN) in islands including Naoshima in Seto Island Sea. In 2010, the inaugural Setouchi International Art Festival receives broad attentions from not only Japan but also all over the world.
